Our vision at Meadowhouse Meditations is to provide high quality one-on-one IFS-informed coaching , guided meditations, and classes.
From our coach and instructor, Cheryl: I have been privileged to work in the alternative healing industry since 2013. I am a certified tuning fork therapist, Reiki Master, reflexology practitioner, and certified herbalist. I have received training in motivational interviewing, energetic kinesiology, peer support, Wellness Recovery Action Plan class facilitation, and I completed the six month course offered by the IFS Institute to become "IFS Informed." I have spent the last two years working as a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist in the state of Tennessee.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is an evidence-based therapeutic model developed by Richard Schwartz. While we do NOT "do therapy" here at Meadowhouse Meditations, we do use principles from IFS to guide our coaching style, and to create unique Wellness Tools.
Imagine you have different "parts" inside you. (Think of the movies Inside Out and Inside Out 2.) IFS helps us better understand ourselves and what may be getting in the way of our goals in a compassionate, insightful, and loving manner. We recognize and honor these different parts (or aspects) of ourselves as we explore the Eight Dimensions of Wellness.
What is the difference between coaching and therapy?
Therapist:
Coach (based in Tennessee)
We specialize in helping "neuro-spicy" people improve and navigate wellness and recovery in a system designed for allistic people.
From our Coach and Instructor, Cheryl:
As I am coming from a place of lived experience with mental illness, trauma recovery, chronic physical illness, and the vicissitudes of growing up with undiagnosed autism, ADHD, Tourette Syndrome, and hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos, I get it. I'm here for you.
While we specialize in neurodiversity, everyone is welcome to be a part of our community.
The Eight Dimensions of Wellness are:
Emotional, Physical, Occupational,
Social, Spiritual, Intellectual,
Environmental, and Financial.
If you're not sure where to start, the Eight Dimensions of Wellness is the perfect solution! Pick a dimension to start on and we can go from there.
Zoom classes based on the Eight Dimensions of Wellness will be offered at a future date. Please sign up for our monthly newsletter for class schedules and offerings.
What is a Wellness Tool? A Wellness Tool is a skill we can use "in the moment" to reduce or alleviate symptoms. They can help us "stay on track" and have better days. According to Mary Ellen Copeland, "Most Wellness Tools are simple, safe, and free. ... Anything can be a Wellness Tool if it works for you."
During one-on-one support sessions and Zoom classes, we'll explore various Wellness Tools and practice them together as appropriate. Many common Wellness Tools have been the subject of scientific study, so we'll explore those as well.
All of our one-on-one sessions and classes will take place via Zoom. Although we will meet remotely, one-on-one session are personalized to your needs. We take your personal spiritual beliefs into consideration and work with your belief system, rather than separate from them. Depending on your wants and needs, Alternative Modalities can also be included if desired. Classes are made more personal by making sure everyone is included in class discussions if they desire.
Do you ever wish you could have someone to "unload on" for an hour without interruption? Do you sometimes just need someone to "hold space" for you while you "think out loud" to find a solution? Do you need someone to listen who won't jump to conclusions or presume you mean something you haven't said? Are you looking for someone curious enough about you to ask questions for clarification? Do you appreciate direct feedback? Are you willing to follow up on recommended resources? If so, a one-on-one session may be just for you. Conducted in a peer-support-style, you'll find support, a listening ear, genuine compassion, and sincere concern.
Our zoom classes are interactive and on the small side (no more than 15 people are allowed to sign up for any class or series of classes). All classes allow time for Q&A, follow-up on questions asked during the previous session, and participant participation. Every class will also include a handout, emailed at the end of class.
Meadowhouse Meditation classes will include relaxation and meditation, recovery education, and self-help opportunities. We will NOT offer support groups, as we don't offer therapy services.
Please sign up for our monthly newsletter which will include a calendar of events as well as pricing.
Have you ever wanted a guided meditation that's not too "fast" or cliche? Would you like a meditation that's been designed just for you? If so, a one-on-one guided meditation may be just what you're looking for. Guided meditations can be included in a one-on-one session.
Would you like to participate in a group meditation that offers the opportunity to give feedback or a chance to discuss your experience with other attendees? Are you interested in guided meditation for relaxation and stress reduction? If so, group meditations may be the right fit. In addition to our classes specifically for relaxation and meditation, short group meditations are offered at the beginning and end of every Recovery Education class.
We offer the following alternative modalities as part of our one-on-one sessions and group classes:
